About Us

About Us

We strive to optimize the nervous system potential of your whole family by using the latest technology to evaluate and apply a modern approach to the chiropractic adjustment. Our team goes through continuous and  extensive training on pediatrics, pregnancy, and enhancing the patient experience. You can rest assured that you are in good hands.

How Peapod Sprouted

From the beginning of her chiropractic journey, Dr. Brittany knew she wanted to focus on pediatric and family care. Her internship was spent at PWC Chiropractic, one of the leading pediatric chiropractic providers in the country that specializes in kids with special needs. These kids with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, PANDAS, Epilepsy, etc., were THRIVING under chiropractic care. For many families, chiropractic was their last resort. Fortunately, these families were offered answers, but most importantly, chiropractic restored HOPE.

The chiropractors at PWC took case histories on these kiddos, but they didn’t start by asking parents “when did these issues begin.” Instead, they started with “tell me about the pregnancy.” Pregnancy, labor, and delivery sets the tone for the development of the child. More often than not, they were finding that mom described her pregnancy as stressful, labor as difficult, and delivery as less than ideal and usually highly intervened. This is the beginning of a “The Perfect Storm” meaning that it’s rarely just ONE thing that leads to the development of these conditions, but rather a whole storm of different things. (We’ve got a whole workshop focused on just this! To see when the next one is, click HERE).

Most parents didn’t know how much the pregnancy and birth could affect their child. They kept hearing “Why didn’t we know this sooner.” This is what sparked Dr. Brittany’s passion for pregnancy education and pregnancy in general — and started the seed that would grow into Peapod Family Chiropractic. After all, we all started off as little peas all cozy and growing in our mama’s belly.

While Dr. Brittany loves caring for pregnant folks, and that was the original inspiration for the name and design of Peapod Family Chiropractic, now, the pea pod acts as a bigger metaphor for how we grow and heal from the inside out.

ALL health comes from within. Within the mother while she’s growing a child. Within a child while they’re learning and developing. Within the family unit when children pick up healthy habits from their parents. Within the community when we’re supporting each other. It all started with a pea.

Dr. Brittany Guelzow

Dr. Brittany

Hi Friends! My Name is Dr. Brittany Guelzow, but my last name can be difficult to pronounce and spell, so I prefer to go by Dr. Brittany. I have been passionate about becoming a chiropractor since I was 16 years old and visited one for the first time. Like most, I went to the chiropractor for back pain relief. Being a cheerleader from age 12 really did a number on my developing body! While my back pain did get better, chiropractic provided so much more for me than just that. My allergies got better, my focus got better, I wasn’t getting sick as much, and my mental health was improving. “But how? You’re only adjusting my back!.” Keep in mind your spine contains your spinal cord, which is attached to your brain — you know, the thing that controls your whole body! It made so much sense to me, and I knew I wanted to help people the same way that I was helped. I became obsessed with chiropractic philosophy, and learned as much as I could about pediatrics, pregnancy, and how they relate to vertebral subluxation.

I completed my undergraduate coursework at Winona State University in Winona, MN, went to chiropractic school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, completed my internship at PWC Chiropractic in Crystal Lake, IL, and then worked as an associate chiropractor in Chicago, IL for 2 years. I consider these years my “Midwest Tour,” but decided venture down south to expand my reach.

I moved to Austin for the sunshine, good vibes, and because I’m a Texan at by birth, but left before I could truly experience being a Texan, and it absolutely hasn’t disappointed! When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time at Austin’s lakes and rivers, seeing live music, cuddling with my kittens Pumpkin and Miss Jackson, and, despite what cheerleading did to me as an adolescent, I’m even part of a charitable adult cheerleading team called Cheer Austin! We raise money for the Austin LGBTQIA community and it gives us old folks a chance to cheer like the good ol’ days.

Your First Visit (Approx. 40 minutes)

Woohoo! We can’t wait to meet you! This visit is fun because we get to learn all the things about how your/your child’s body is functioning. We’ll start by diving into your health history, discuss challenges you may be facing, and more importantly, what your health goals are. For kiddo’s 3 years of age and older, we recommend doing this part over the phone for a couple of reasons:

  1. Kids are more perceptive than we give them credit for. In our experience, sometimes they don’t like when we talk about them right in front of them.
  2. We want coming into the office to be a positive experience! If they have to sit through listening to grown-ups talk AND THEN sit through our exam, we’re getting right to the end of the attention-span and patience barrier which can be frustrating for them.

Next, we’ll evaluate your/your child’s nervous system! We do this using 3 non-invasive tools (no radiation and safe for children and pregnant individuals)!

1. Spinal Thermography- This test is used to assess the part of your nervous system that helps to control your organs, glands, and blood vessels using temperature. Temperature is an accurate indicator as to where stress is building up and how deeply it affects bodily functions

2. Surface EMG- This test determines your current muscle tone and balance. Asymmetry and improper muscle distribution could be a contributing factor to many conditions.

3. Heart Rate Variability- This test helps us to determine your overall ability to adapt to the environment. It tells us if you’re more wired for “flight-or-fight” (stress) or “rest and repair”. A stressed-out nervous system is less likely to heal.

After these tests, Dr. Brittany retires to her nerd-ary for the evening to put all these puzzle pieces together to get a look at the bigger picture. This takes some time and we want to make sure we are recommending a care plan and providing adjustments that are tailored to you individually. For this reason, adjustments are not offered on the first visit.

Your Second Visit (Approx. 30 minutes)

This visit is arguably even more fun than the first one, because you get the results of all your tests and you get to find out what’s going on in your body! Then, a course of care will be recommended to get to the root cause of your current issues. Many tell us that after this visit, they feel lots of hope. During this visit, you/your child will have the opportunity to get adjusted!

Welcome to everyone’s favorite subject to talk about — Money!  We know that this can be a stressful topic. Our goal is to minimize that feeling by being transparent about how our office operates.

First, let’s talk about insurance. Peapod Family Chiropractic is out-of-network with insurance companies. We do this to ensure that you and your family are getting the recommendations and care your bodies NEED, and not what the insurance company deems as “necessary”. We work for YOU, not a premium. With that being said, we strive to make care accessible and affordable for families, even without insurance.

First Visit: $150

The initial intake includes a consultation on your and/or your child’s health history followed by 3 diagnostic tests to determine the current health and function of your nervous system. Want to know information about these tests? Visit What to expect.

The above fee covers THE WHOLE FAMILY! Our goal is helping you grow a healthy family from the inside out, and knowing how well everyone’s nervous system is functioning is our starting point.

Adjustments – $50

Our pay-per-visit fee for adjustments is $50. Typically, to get to the underlying cause of neurological stress, we start by recommending a course of care. The level of care recommended depends on your/your child’s current state of neurological stress, as well as your health goals. If you decide to move forward with this course of care, we offer discounts ranging between 5% and 15% depending on payment plan.

House Calls- $15 Travel Fee

Super busy work schedule? Don’t feel comfortable coming to either office location? Let us come to you! All of our equipment is 100% portable, making house calls a wonderful option! One $15 fee will be applied at the time of the visit per household.

Family plans

We love seeing families, and we want to make sure you love seeing us! We offer discounts for members of the same family IN ADDITION to the discounts already mentioned! Let us know how many people from your family plan to start care, and we will go over the discount fee system with you!

Devron E.

I started to see Dr. Brittany during my second pregnancy and was excited to start my three year old on Chiropractic as well since he hadn’t seen a Chiropractor since infancy. I have had many Chiropractors in the past and was really impressed with the care Dr. Brittany gave us, especially with a very  skeptical 3 year old! She was kind, professional and had tricks up her sleeve to keep a toddler comfortable and she soon had my son asking to be called “Dr.” himself! Best of all I have seen such benefits for myself in my current pregnancy as well as my son’s health. I’m so happy to have found Dr. Brittany!

Danielle J.

I originally sought out chiropractic care early on during my pregnancy for neck pain. While this improved quickly, I continued under care until I delivered. I feel like Dr. Brittany set everything up to go as well as it could have [during birth]. He was out in 5 pushes, and literally the tendinitis in my hips was more painful than the actual birth. It was perfect”
