From the beginning of her chiropractic journey, Dr. Brittany knew she wanted to focus on pediatric and family care.
Her internship was spent at PWC Chiropractic, one of the leading pediatric chiropractic providers in the country that specializes in kids with special needs. These kids with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, PANDAS, Epilepsy, etc., were THRIVING under chiropractic care. For many families, chiropractic was their last resort. Fortunately, these families were offered answers, but most importantly, chiropractic restored HOPE.
The chiropractors at PWC took case histories on these kiddos, but they didn’t start by asking parents “when did these issues begin.” Instead, they started with “tell me about the pregnancy.” Pregnancy, labor, and delivery sets the tone for the development of the child. More often than not, they were finding that mom described her pregnancy as stressful, labor as difficult, and delivery as less than ideal and usually highly intervened. This is the beginning of a “The Perfect Storm” meaning that it’s rarely just ONE thing that leads to the development of these conditions, but rather a whole storm of different things. (We’ve got a whole workshop focused on just this! To see when the next one is, click HERE).
Most parents didn’t know how much the pregnancy and birth could affect their child. They kept hearing “Why didn’t we know this sooner.” This is what sparked Dr. Brittany’s passion for pregnancy education and pregnancy in general — and started the seed that would grow into Peapod Family Chiropractic. After all, we all started off as little peas all cozy and growing in our mama’s belly.
While Dr. Brittany loves caring for pregnant folks, and that was the original inspiration for the name and design of Peapod Family Chiropractic, now, the pea pod acts as a bigger metaphor for how we grow and heal from the inside out.
ALL health comes from within. Within the mother while she’s growing a child. Within a child while they’re learning and developing. Within the family unit when children pick up healthy habits from their parents. Within the community when we’re supporting each other. It all started with a pea.
