“I wish I could click “pregnant people”. My partner and I can’t get pregnant!”

There are so many pieces that make up the fertility challenge puzzle. We don’t like the word “infertility” because it’s super discouraging and absolute, which might not always be the case. One piece of the puzzle may be that your body is wired for stress. Stress beyond the body’s ability to adapt can activate the “fight-or-flight” mode. Think of this in primitive terms (it might sound ridiculous but stick with us). Say you’re at the watering hole, minding your own business, and BAM! A tiger appears. In that moment, your body’s only concern is getting away from that tiger. It doesn’t care about creating or growing a baby, because you can’t reproduce if you’re tiger food. While we for the most part aren’t running from tigers anymore, our bodies can still be stuck in that same fight-or-flight response. Chiropractic care helps to regulate the nervous system moving you from stress to rest, which very well may be your missing puzzle piece!

Psst! One more thing. While women get blamed a lot, they aren’t the only party involved in making a baby. It takes egg AND sperm. If you are the creator of sperm, it might be a good idea to have your puzzle pieces checked as well! Excess stress can affect your swimmers.

Curious if you or your partner are wired for stress? Schedule your intake appointment here to find out!

Pregnancy

Dear pregnant people, bearers of children, creators of life, WE LOVE YOU! It’s a lot of work clicking the copy and paste button on humanity, and you shouldn’t have to do it alone. We believe that a prenatal chiropractor should be part of every pregnancy and birth team. Your baby’s ENTIRE nervous system has to develop through YOUR nervous system. An orchestra is only as strong as it’s conductor, and you and your beautiful little baby musician are having non-stop rehearsals for 9 months to prepare for the grand symphony that is birth. Let chiropractic care make sure you’re both on tempo (ie, prepare your body for delivery).

Dr. Brittany is certified in The Webster Technique, and has received advanced perinatal training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). The Webster Technique is a chiropractic approach that focuses on the optimal strength, stability, and alignment of the pelvis and associated pelvic structures. While that all sounds fun, it might sound like a bunch of jargon to someone that isn’t a chiropractor. Let us show you what we mean with this video.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy has been Shown to:

⇢Increase Comfort
⇢Improve Sleep
⇢Increase Energy Levels
⇢Optimize Fetal Positioning
⇢Decrease Labor Times
⇢Decrease Need for Labor Interventions
⇢Speed Up Postpartum Recovery

Show me a pregnant person that wouldn’t want that. *Crickets* Yup, we thought as much. So you can schedule your intake here.

After Pregnancy

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! We do a great job of preparing parents for the postpartum period, don’t we? You birth a human that has been a part of your body for around 9 months, then you’re handed that very fresh and fragile human and told “Good luck! See you in 6 weeks for your postpartum visit!”, and you’re sent on your merry way. Ok, we’re exaggerating a bit, but your body just went though A LOT, and now has to readjust to not growing and housing a tiny human anymore. Some things might have occurred that you weren’t prepared for, or were even told would happen to you. Chiropractic care during the postpartum period helps you heal! Check out this video if you’re a visual learner to see the importance of pelvic balance during the postpartum period!

“WHAT?! Why on earth would a newborn baby need a chiropractor?”

To put it simply- birth is traumatic for both mommy AND baby! Don’t believe us? Here’s a video of a cesarean section (sometimes called a C-section). A routine, typical, non-emergency C-section.

Woah. That little baby entered the world with an additional 60-90 pounds of tractional force on their spine, and this is the way that 1/3 of babies in the US enter the world.

“But my baby was born the old-fashioned way, so they’re good, right?”

Not exactly. Babies born vaginally can also have subluxations (we just didn’t want to subject you to a video of a vaginal birth). Dr. Godfrey Gutmann, a German physician, conducted a study of over 1,000 newborns shortly after birth. He discovered that over 80% of the infants suffered trauma to their cervical spine (neck). Sometimes, vaginal births still result in the use of instruments (vacuum extraction, forceps, doctor assistance), and these put additional stress on the baby.

“So what?”

When we evaluate little ones, we find that many are suffering from subluxation, likely as a result of birth trauma or their position in the womb. A subluxation is a miscommunication between the brain and body, not allowing the brain to perceive the environment or integrate information properly. Our brains talk to our bodies through our spinal cord and spinal nerves. Spinal stress creates “road blocks” on this information highway.

“How do I know if my baby has subluxation?”

We don’t guess. We test! We perform a series of non-invasive tests to determine the current state of their nervous system. For more information, check out What to Expect. The true epitome of proactive health care is acting BEFORE there is a problem. It’s way easier to grow a healthy baby than to fix a sick adult later. With that being said, some issues that are pretty good indicators of subluxation being present are:

⇢Colic
⇢Breastfeeding Challenges
⇢Reflux
⇢Plagiocephany (flat head spot)
⇢Sleeping Challenges
⇢Excessive Arching of Head or Back
⇢Constipation

I started to see Dr. Brittany during my second pregnancy and was excited to start my three year old on Chiropractic as well since he hadn’t seen a Chiropractor since infancy. I have had many Chiropractors in the past and was really impressed with the care Dr. Brittany gave us, especially with a very  skeptical 3 year old! She was kind, professional and had tricks up her sleeve to keep a toddler comfortable and she soon had my son asking to be called “Dr.” himself! Best of all I have seen such benefits for myself in my current pregnancy as well as my son’s health. I’m so happy to have found Dr. Brittany!

I originally sought out chiropractic care early on during my pregnancy for neck pain. While this improved quickly, I continued under care until I delivered. I feel like Dr. Brittany set everything up to go as well as it could have [during birth]. He was out in 5 pushes, and literally the tendinitis in my hips was more painful than the actual birth. It was perfect”
